What is the Bedford Lacrosse Club?
At
this time, the Bedford Lacrosse Club is the desire of some Bedford students
to play Lacrosse here in and for Bedford. We are attempting to find out if
there is a great enough interest to form a team to compete with local teams,
such as Sylvania, St. Johns and West Toledo Wolf Pack, next spring. There
may be other opportunities such as tournaments in Ann Arbor or Columbus as
well. At this time we are looking at getting something going locally first
but we will reach as far as we reasonably can. In the course of resource gathering,
we became aware of a plan of Bedford Community Education to start a Lacrosse
program in the township. This plan is also new but a field has been set-aside
for Lacrosse in Indian Creek Park. There is also a plan to buy goals for the
field. Their plan was for next year but I think we have jump-started them
a bit. They have given indications of very good support of our idea. At this
time the club is not a Bedford Schools club, however the High School may give
us some support in terms of uniforms.
We are also not a club of Bedford Community Education, or any other public
institution. We will probably become a club of one or more of the above but
at this time we are just not sure how that will best serve both the team and
the community. That will be worked out as we get better organized.
Club Objectives: The aims and objectives of this club are still being formed,
as is the club itself. These objectives will become more concrete as the club
comes together. The objectives below are general and intended to be refined
as the club grows.
The objectives are:
--- To provide a Lacrosse Team for Bedford Area High School Students.
--- To join area high school and Community Lacrosse Clubs in their schedule of games.
--- To aide Bedford Community Education in creating an age group Lacrosse Program.
Organizational Meeting Objectives:
--- To find out who is interested in being in this club.
--- To give those interested contact and introduction information.
--- To answer as many questions as we can.
--- To identify what questions need still to be answered.

This introduction
is to let everyone know who I am and what experience I have that will help
this club. I have no great ambition to be the coach of a High School Team
or the president of a club. My motivation for involvement are love for my
son, Passion for the game of Lacrosse and a desire to see all boys who would
like to play Lacrosse, get a chance to. I am willing to do what I can to help
with this club. I am willing to assist or step aside for anyone more qualified
for or better suited to run this club. If you have any further questions of
me, or would like to help, please call me at 734-847-3776.
